Productive afternoon .. but was damn cold

Post by Ghost on Sat Feb 21, 2009 4:11 pm

Not to bad an afternoon a bit cold but did manage to get my grounding wire kit installed - changed my rear side markers to a smoked set and also swapped out my one front fog lamp that had a small crack in it. I must admit that installing the grounding kit does make all the lighting much brighter and the auto transmission does shift a lot cleaner and crisp, so the time was well spent.

Where did you get your grounding kit from? how much? and how hard was it to install? or how much would you charge to install it?
lol

Thanks ghost.

Nigel, there was a guy selling the grounding kit on TMEC for 20 bucks. Installation is pretty straightforward, you should be able to do it yourself. Basically, just remove a bolt, sand the spot down, put the grounding cable on and bolt it down.

Like ecrash said I was able to pickup this set of wires (grounding kit) from one of the other guys on our site and installing was very straight forward (although it does help to know where the grounding points are) I had seen the wiring in skidz car so knowing where the different points are was a bit easier ... you can do this ... and I am still totally surprised at the ease my transmission now shifts no more hanging in a gear to long or taken its sweet ars time downshifting, wow just from adding a few wires in the right spots ... There was a guy on the ORG that was making them up I am just not sure who he was or if he is still doing them, perhaps check there first ... I believe Vic made the set of wires up for skidz so you can also PM him to find out a bit more.

You can also make a grounding kit yourself. It does make a noticeable difference on auto's, the shifts are much better and it also downshifts right away instead of staying in a higher gear when off the throttle. Here are the grounding points:
- Upper Intake Manifold to Firewall Ground
- Battery to Chassis Ground
- Engine Block to Chassis
- Stater to Chassis Ground
- Timing Chain Cover to Chassis Ground

You are correct Ray, that not posting pictures does leave the thread lacking. I was frozen after playing around during the afternoon and had not charged up the camera. Skidz has been very kind to have posted up a few pic's on some of the install connection points, now my install sure doesn't look nice a pretty like his because my wires are not pre cut to specific length like his nor did I have any zip ties to finish up making the install nice and clean ( which I still have to do). Some of my wires are quit a bit longer and really do need the zip ties to clean up the install, so once I feel I have something a bit more presentable I will add the pic's.

No problem Jim, just razzing you. I have a bunch of cable ties around the house, white or black. Let me know if you need some
