WOW, this sucks...

March 31, 2009 - Torontomaxima.com will be closing its doors. Maintenance of the site has been too costly and time consuming, leaving little time for other things. We’ve made lots of good friends along the way. It’s been a good run guys.

wow..I kind of had a feeling that this was going to happen..too bad, I guess this is the new home?

I could see this coming...

So what do we do now? Is this the end of Tmec? Time to start a Tmec v2?

Really sucks cause I enjoy having meets and meeting up with everyone during the summer. Maybe this site could become torontomaxima.ca now, since Richie has given up.

Is Richie going to hand over TMEC to Hadley?

Wow, I must say even though I feared this was coming, it still comes as a surprise. I hope Richie comes on here to discuss what happened in more detail, talks about his wishes for the TMEC namesake and general chat about all things TMEC.

Again, while I feared this was coming eventually, this site was always intended to be nothing more than a backup for TMEC. I took on the name gtamaxima.com so our members could find it more easily, but there was never an intention to compete. I have invested much blood, sweat and tears in TMEC over the years.

Richie, it's a sad day man. If this came on April 1st I don't think I would have taken it seriously. My hat and heartfelt thanks goes out to you for providing us with a wonderful forum we were, and still are, very proud to call home.

Well thats a huge surprise! Thanks a lot for all the great information and help from the TMEC site, it really helped me learn a lot about my car, and it definatly will be missed! thanks a lot Richie for all your hardwork and time to bring TMEC to where it was!

I'm suprised. I thought he would have at least given it up to someone. Thanks for everything anyways. Couldn't he have given it to someone to take over other than just killing it off? I'm sure there are a few ppl that are willing to do this. THIS SUCKS

is there a way to import/ export some of the threads from TMEC to here?

We should have a meet soon or something maybe create a new team of mods or to maybe get this site going full time helping mm out (up to mm), or get torontomaxima.com started again. I know there are a bunch of ppl that would probably be willing to step up.

I really don't wanna see this club die. It's probably one of the most unique communities in the GTA, and there's really no other place for us to go. We'll always have this place, but it won't have the same membership numbers that Tmec had.

Like Had said, this was always intended to just be a backup site. I'm all for changing the name of this place to torontomaxima.com or .ca though. Tmec needs a new home now, and I'm just hoping we can salvage the club name, and bring it back better than it ever was. I really don't wanna scrape off my TMEC stickers.

I think we absolutely need to have a meet soon to discuss the clubs future. I'm happy to donate or help out in any other way possible. Maybe as early as this weekend even, Saturday the 4th at around 4pm @ the Owl? I can start a new thread about it as well.

Yea Skidz is right. If we start from scratch, and find a way to incorporate the TMEC name into this site we should have things running back to normal in no time. I'm willing to donate some funds if needed. Also I'm pretty sure I could find some sponsers/discounts from my work as a way to gain more members, just a thought

Very disappointing, although I can understand the frustration and time having to keep up the maintenance and the multiple attacks that TMEC had gone through ... MM if you are in-touch with Richie perhaps he could the link directing some of the Newer members that had recently joined TMEC and may not be aware of this site ... I feel bad for some of them as they may be feeling a bit lost with the current statement saying simply the site is shutting down.

I've asked Richie to stop by here and share his thoughts with us on TMEC's past and present, and if the name should follow us here, etc...
Hopefully this will answer some questions for you.
Without Richie's blessing though, I won't be discussing future plans for the TMEC name. While it has become a home for us all, TMEC is his child.
For the record, I don't want to mourn the loss of said child, I want to give it life and a warm home. Enough said.

That's so sad... Can this site continue to be like TMEC??

I'm depressed.....I hope that kid gets beat up and dies. We've definitely made some friendships here, and its truely sad for me to see it go.
