You are making the wrong decision; don't use 0W30. Use 5W30, and buy the oil filter and air filter from the dealer. They are better quality. Good luck.

Please explain why using 0W30 would be "the wrong decision" - even though summer's on its way, I cannot see how easier cranking and more protection at lower temperatue start-ups could possibly be a bad thing. I agree on OEM oil filters, but I also cannot see the harm in using a K&N panel filter.... the engine would be able breathe more easily with a less restricive air filter, resulting in better performance and fuel mileage.

I don't think using 0w30 is bad. Besides the OEM oil filter, people say the NAPA Gold oil filters are good too since they are made by Wix.

Quoting you MChapel, "opinions are like assholes; everyone has one."

BTW, I owe you a phone call! Thanks.

Let me clarify my opinion; 0W30 is cool for winter. It certainly wouldn't hurt to use it, but since summer is upon us, it's less critical to have a thin oil at start-up. Thin oil can cause seepage (though unlikely in a newer car), and also cost more off the shelf vs. 5W30, which is recommended in the owner's manual.

There is nothing wrong with using 0W30 year round. Had it in mine since day 1 Wink Zero W is good for cold starts and it won't hurt the engine in warm weather. Had mine running 0W30 for 5 years and 250,000 km and never burnt oil nor had issues with it...

I've been running 0w30 and I get awesome gas mileage. Mine dips a bit when I switch back to 5w30
